Do I need to book an appointment?

Yes it is advisable so that our artists have the time to discuss your needs and advise on sizing, placement and a tattoo being a personal experience requires good communication with the artist to ensure you are happy with your design.

A deposit of $50 is required for all appointments upon booking.  This is required prior to artwork being started to ensure your commitment to your tattoo and to reserve the artist’s time. Your deposit is credited towards the total of your tattoo.

Cash deposits are required to secure your appointment time and are non-refundable. Deposits are valid for three months and can be transferred to a new appointment time if a minimum of 24 hours’ notice is given. Without this notice the deposit will be forfeited.

Please note that the deposit you leave does not entitle you to any rights over the drawings the artist prepares for you.

Can I bring my own design or idea?

Of course. Your tattoo is all about your self-expression, but make sure you have an idea or a selection of reference images for the artist. It allows you to have a clear vision and makes for a productive session for the artist to ensure you get exactly what you want.

Is it safe?

Yes. Every instrument that is used is either single service (all needles are single use and disposed of within Health Department regulations) or ultrasonically cleaned, scrubbed, rinsed, individually bagged and finally autoclave-sterilised. All washes, soaps and disinfecting solutions used are also as per Health Department specifications. To further prevent cross-contamination, all equipment touched between individual clients are protected with disposable plastic covers. Sacred Tattoos checks and adheres to all Health Department updates for the tattoo industry and all changes are implemented.

At Sacred Tattoo and Body Piercing our sterilisation procedures are second to none.

Does it hurt?

Yes, however pain is subjective. The level of discomfort varies tremendously and depends on each individual and the placement. To ensure you are as comfortable as possible make sure you are well-hydrated and rested. Make sure you are feeling good naturally – and in the best state of mind to experience the process.

Avoid consuming alcohol before being tattooed. Celebrate afterwards if need be!

Can we tattoo over scars and stretchmarks?

Yes we can if they are not too recent. Each individual may be different and the tattooist will be able to advise of the best options for you.

How do I care for my new tattoo?

Your tattoo will last a lifetime, however it is fragile in the first few weeks, so care and respect needs to be exercised.

Just follow these simple steps and you should have no problems :

Leave the bandage on for 1-2 hours then wash your tattoo with warm water and a mild soap. Do not bandage your tattoo again unless you were instructed to do so. Rub lightly with a bare hand as you wash off any blood, ointment and excess ink. Wash the area twice a day to keep the tattoo clean.

DO NOT use a washcloth on your new tattoo as you may damage the skin. Gently pat dry DO NOT rub your tattoo, gently pat dry and allow to air for 10 minutes to completely dry.

DO NOT soak in a bath.

DO NOT re-bandage your tattoo. Apply a thin layer of Bepanthen/Aftercare cream two to three times a day for 7-10 days.

DO NOT pick at or scratch your new tattoo. After a week use a moisturizing skin lotion on your tattoo (Vaseline Intensive Care or Cocoa Butter). Be careful not to remove any scabs as you rub the lotion in. Ensure your lotion is fragrance free and use it about 2-4x a day.

While your tattoo is healing avoid swimming (salt water / chlorine), baths, tanning beds, fake tanning lotions, etc. New skin forms over your tattoo and you do not want to damage it as it grows over.

Your tattoo should heal up like a scrape (gravel rash) type injury. The way your tattoo looks after it heals depends a lot on the healing process and what you do over the few weeks after your tattoo was applied.

Take care of it and it will last a lifetime.

What is your minimum charge for a tattoo?

Minimum charge is $150.

Hourly rate is $180

For four hours it is $600

How much does it cost?

Cost depends on a number of factors, including size, placement, complexity and style, which all contribute to the final price. For smaller designs we start at a minimum price of $150, however we cannot give quotes to un-sighted designs over the phone. Please call or drop in to the studio an accurate price estimate. Quotes and prices listed on pre-drawn designs are estimates only and may vary according to placement and artist.

Yes we do cover-ups! So if you have a tattoo that you regret getting or a tattoo you just simply don’t like, then come into the shop and show us and we’d be happy to help in covering over the tattoo with a brand new tattoo

Yes. Dependant on the size of the piece wanted. Our artists are usually busy with their bookings but we strive to fit in the extra work when we can, and occasionally we have spare time due to cancellations.
